Little Elsa Elephant wanted to eat coconut pudding one day.

She went up to Mamma Elephant and told her, "Mamma, can you make me some coconut pudding..."

"Oh yes, my darling," said Mamma Elephant. "But, wait, mmmmm, we don't have any coconuts..."

"I know, I'll go get some, mamma..." said Elsa.

"Baby, you're too little to fell coconuts...," said Mamma Elephant.

But Elsa had already run out of home and into the woods. She didn't hear her mamma.

Elsa was a baby elephant who was always cheerful.

All her friends loved her because she made everyone happy.

Now as Elsa went into the woods, she saw a tall coconut tree.

Mable, the monkey, was sitting on top of it. Elsa smiled. Mable was Elsa's friend.

"Oh, hello Mable," said Elsa. "Are you looking for coconuts too? To make pudding..."

"Oh, hello Elsa," said Mable. "I was just sitting up here, wondering what to do..."

"Are you looking for coconuts, girl...?" he asked Elsa.

"Yes," said Elsa. "My mamma is making coconut pudding... could you fell two coconuts for me, Mable?"

"Of course, Elsa, right away." replied Mable.

Sitting high up on the coconut tree, he felled two coconuts.

As they fell on to the ground, Elsa ran towards them.

She could see that they were green and round and beautiful.

Just the kind of coconuts her mamma would want for pudding.

But as she was about to reach the coconuts a big monkey took one away.

He ran up a tree with the coconut and sat on its branch, looking down at Elsa.

"Hey! That's my coconut," cried Elsa. "Give it back to me..."

The monkey only climbed up higher. And looked down at Elsa, making funny faces.

Mable, who was watching all of this, shouted out to the monkey...

"Hey! Give that coconut back to Elsa..."

But the monkey climbed even higher.

Suddenly, Elsa picked up the other coconut and threw it at the tree.

She swung her baby trunk as hard and high as she could.

The coconut flew out of her trunk, hit hard on the branch the monkey was sitting on and fell down near Elsa again.

The monkey got so scared that he dropped the coconut in his hands and ran away into the woods.

Elsa was happy again – she got back her coconut.

"Bravo Elsa," said Mable, clapping his hands happily.

"That was very quick and brave of you," he said. "Mmmm… would your mother be looking for you now?"

"Oh yes," said Elsa trying to pick up the coconuts. But she couldn't take both coconuts in her trunk.

"I'll help you Elsa," said Mable Monkey.

He took one of the coconuts in his hands and both of them reached Elsa’s home quickly.

Mamma Elephant was waiting...

"Oh, hello Mable, you can stay for some pudding too," said Mamma Elephant.

And as Elsa and Mable were playing, Mamma Elephant made the coconut pudding.

She put in extra palm sugar and milk to make it yummier. Soon the place was smelling delicious.

"Come and get your pudding children," shouted Mamma Elephant.

Elsa and Mable ran to get their pudding.

As they were enjoying it, Mable told Mamma Elephant how Elsa saved the coconut.

"Oh, that was very quick and brave of you Elsa," said Mamma Elephant.

"But remember not to hurt anyone darling..."

"But Mamma...," began Elsa.

"Shhhh!" said Mamma Elephant. "We'll send some coconut pudding with Mable for the monkey too."

They all got back to eating their pudding, laughing and talking again.

Elsa ate her pudding even more happily now.

She was happy because the other monkey would also get to try her Mamma's delicious coconut pudding.
